School Environment – The Psychosocial Environment
In Brief
All students have the right to feel safe and well at school. This means that your child should not be subjected to exclusion, bullying, or harassment, whether from other students or teachers. If your child does not feel safe and well, they have the right to receive help from the adults at school.
Description
If someone does not feel safe and well at school or on the way to or from school, the school must take action to stop it. The best course of action is to report it to the school as soon as possible. This applies whether it is your child who is struggling or if you witness someone else being harassed. You can report it to any school staff member.
Target Group
Students in primary and lower secondary school.

Guidance - how to obtain or receive the service
If you are a student in primary school and do not feel safe and well at school or on your way to and from school, you can report this to any school staff member. Both students and parents can make a report. The person you report to will then inform the principal. Once the school becomes aware that a student does not feel safe and well, they will immediately investigate the situation. These investigations typically involve discussions and meetings with students, parents, and school staff. If the investigations lead to measures being implemented, these must be documented in a written plan so they can be evaluated later. To ensure that your concerns are taken seriously, you can also send a report directly to the County Governor after first informing the principal. Read more about reporting to the County Governor here: Melde fra om mobbing eller dårlig skolemiljø External link..
Right to Appeal
If you believe that the principal has not done enough to ensure that you feel safe and well at school, you can escalate the case to the County Governor. The County Governor will investigate, make a decision, and may impose requirements on the school.
