Kindergarten Services for Children with Disabilities

A child with disabilities has the right to the same kindergarten services as other children.
Description
The kindergarten, in collaboration with the parents, will assess what adaptations the child may need. The kindergarten can accommodate children with disabilities in various ways, such as:
- Adjustments to the kindergarten building
- Specialized equipment
- Additional staff
- Training for employees.

Criteria
A child has the right to an individually adapted kindergarten placement if they require accommodations due to a disability. If the necessary accommodations place a significant financial burden on the kindergarten, the child may be offered a placement in a different kindergarten.

and the kindergarten are responsible for assessing whether a child requires accommodations. However, as a parent, you can also initiate this assessment by contacting the kindergarten.

The municipality assesses the child's needs, and if accommodations are required, the municipality will issue a formal decision.
Processing Time
The municipality must process the case as soon as possible. If the case cannot be resolved within one month, you will receive a written explanation of the reason for the delay and an estimated timeframe for the decision.
Right to Appeal
When the municipality makes a formal decision, it triggers the right to appeal. If you are dissatisfied with the decision, you can appeal to the municipality within three weeks of receiving it. Explain what you disagree with and why you believe the decision should be changed. If you need guidance, you can contact the municipality. If the municipality upholds its decision, the case will be forwarded to the County Governor, who will determine whether the appeal should be upheld.
