Home Schooling
In Brief
Parents may choose to provide their child with education at home. This is called private primary education at home. The education must follow the same curriculum as public schools.
Description
As a parent, you can choose to provide your child with primary education at home. How to Proceed
- Inform the school that you wish to withdraw your child from school and provide private education at home.
- Develop a plan to ensure the education follows the national curriculum.
- Home education is required to follow the same educational objectives as stated in the Education Act § 1-3. Prepare a plan for how you will document adherence to these principles.
- Ensure compliance with requirements for subjects and hours (Education Act § 1-6).
- The Education Act mandates that students receive knowledge about religions and worldviews but prohibits the promotion of any single religion as part of the education. Prepare a plan for how religious and worldview education will be conducted.

- The parents must be responsible for the education.
